African Culture Foundation calls application for COFACO Grant. The African Culture Fund is an initiative that champions a continent’s desire to write new narratives and take its rightful place on the world stage through the voice of its unique culture. The Fund aims to help write and create new stories of positive social change in Africa through the innovative projects it funds.

Support innovative projects for the creation, production and dissemination of creative content. This will help bring about new narratives and positive social changes in Africa, but also to contribute to the improvement of narrative production and to the advent of a professional environment necessary for the creation of decent jobs for artists and actors in the cultural and creative sector chain.

Prizes 

African Cultural Fund Grants are a maximum of $5,000 per organization. The funding covers a period between a minimum of 4 months and a maximum of 6 months.

Modes and means of action

• Launch of calls for projects.
• Constitution of autonomous and independent selection panels.
• Funding of selected projects.
• Monitoring and evaluation of funded projects.

Eligibility

To be eligible for African Culture Fund COFACO Grant, applicants must meet the following conditions:

• Be an artist or cultural actor in Africa or in the African diaspora, an artistic and cultural structure or association established in Africa or cooperating on African projects with at least one African structure and having at least three years of experience.
• Have a room or be a member of an artistic and cultural structure or association.
• Have legal status (organizations).
• Present a structuring project in response to the call for projects.

• Originality/Innovation/Creativity of the project or concept
• Technical quality of the application
• Financial quality of the project
• The relevance to the current African or regional context and to the Covid-19 context (situation of vulnerability of the cultural organization in relation to the health crisis
