The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) invites graduate students to take part in the CERN openlab Summer Student Programme 2020. The CERN openlab Summer Student Programme 2020 is a fully-funded practical training period for students in Switzerland.
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (also known as CERN) is the European research organization. It operates the largest Particles Physics laboratory in the world. This 1954 established organization has 23 member countries altogether. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, scientists of CERN studies basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that collide together at close to the speed of light. In general, CERN’s main function is to provide the particle accelerators and other infrastructure for high-energy physics research. And as a result, numerous experiments have been constructed at CERN through international collaborations.
This program will be 9 weeks (June – August 2020). The program serves a platform for participant students to work on an advanced IT project and will be given a series of IT lectures specially prepared for them by experts at CERN and other institutes. The students will also have the opportunity to attend the main CERN Summer student programme lectures if they wish.
