Application call for 2023 Harvard LEAD Fellowship (Fully Funded). The 12 months fellowship is for Promoting Women in Global Health and the application deadline is 10th March 2023.
Women in leadership positions are capable of driving positive change by implementing policies that improve the lives of families, communities, and nations. Despite this, women continue to be underrepresented in leadership positions in public health, medicine, and the health and life sciences, and women and children continue to bear a disproportionate burden of disease and death worldwide.
To address this issue, the Harvard Global Health Institute and the Global Health and Population Department at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health have collaborated to offer a unique fellowship program aimed at promoting leadership skills in individuals from low- and middle-income countries. The program is designed to empower these individuals to mentor future female leaders in global health. The Harvard LEAD Fellowship offers access to world-class faculty, senior mentors, and the opportunity to create a personalized curriculum that aligns with each fellow’s unique personal growth and leadership plan. The program includes tailored leadership training, networking opportunities, and independent project work. This fellowship provides a chance to build a global network of peers and relationships across schools and departments of Harvard University, allowing for reflection, recalibration, and exploration of uncharted territories.
The 2023-24 LEAD fellowship program will run from September 2023 through August 2024. The program is structured as a virtual engagement with a four-week in-residence experience in Cambridge, MA in April 2024. The curriculum includes executive coaching, mentorship, speaking engagements, executive education courses, workshops, meetings, events, and networking.
The LEAD Fellowship creates a close-knit community of former fellows from around the world, with representation from 12 different countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America. Past fellows have focused on areas ranging from HIV/AIDS and healthcare to health policy at the highest levels of government. Their expertise spans disciplines including research, advocacy, administration, and policy. More information about the current and past fellows can be found here.
The Harvard Global Health Institute and the Global Health and Population Department at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health co-sponsor this program. LEAD Fellows will hold an academic appointment as a visiting scientist in the Department of Global Health and Population at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. This fellowship program provides a unique opportunity for individuals from low- and middle-income countries to develop leadership skills and mentor future female leaders in global health, ultimately driving positive change in their communities and beyond.
During the in-residence month on campus, fellows will receive a living stipend for those four weeks. Visa fees, housing costs, flights to and from Cambridge, MA, and all course fees are also provided by the fellowship.
