Harvard Law School is proud to announce the Reginald F. Lewis Fellowship for Law Teaching, commencing on July 1, 2024. This prestigious fellowship is designed to support recent law graduates with a passion for legal scholarship and a strong commitment to a career in law teaching.
Inclusivity and Equal Opportunity
At Harvard Law School, we embrace diversity and select fellowship recipients without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or any other legally protected characteristic. We actively encourage applications from candidates who can contribute to the enrichment of the legal academic community by promoting diversity.
Fellowship Details and Responsibilities
The Lewis Fellow, during their tenure, is expected to produce at least one significant article for publication. Additionally, fellows have the unique opportunity to audit courses and participate in workshops at the law school. The research schedule and work plan will be collaboratively determined with the Lewis Committee.
The Reginald F. Lewis Fellowship runs from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, providing an annual stipend of $55,000. Fellows are required to be in residence at Harvard Law School throughout the academic year to foster a vibrant academic environment and encourage collaboration.
The Legacy of Reginald F. Lewis
This esteemed fellowship is made possible through the generosity of Reginald F. Lewis, a distinguished Harvard Law School graduate from the class of 1968, and his wife, Loida Nicolas-Lewis. Mr. Lewis, the former CEO of TLC Beatrice Foods International and author of “Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?,” bestowed the largest grant in the Law School’s history shortly before his passing in 1993. To honor his legacy, Harvard Law School’s International Law Center was renamed in his honor.
