Applications Open: Paediatric Anaesthesia Training Africa (PATA) Fellowship, Lusaka, Zambia – 2024/25
Pediatric Anesthesia Training in Africa (PATA), Zambia, is offering two 12-month paediatric fellowship positions starting September 2024.
Fellows will work with and rotate in the Departments of Anaesthesia at University Teaching Hospital and University of Zambia, National Heart Hospital and Beit Cure Children’s Hospital. Teaching will be provided by local faculty and visiting specialists.
PATA is locally led and supported by the WFSA, Society of Anaesthetists of Zambia (SAZ), the University of Zambia, and experienced partners from the global surgery and anaesthesia space including and the Vanderbilt University Medical Centre.

Eligibility of (PATA) Fellowship
- Must be registered medical practitioners in their country of origin.
- Must have keen interest in paediatric anaesthesia and perioperative care
- Must be supported in their application by their own national anaesthesiology society which must be a member society of the WFSA.
- Must be supported in their application by their head of department or hospital management.
- Must be returning to a recognised post in-country
- Should ideally be working in a hospital that provides perioperative care for paediatric patients.

- Curriculum vitae
- Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s national anaesthesiology society
- Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s head of department or hospital management
- Copy of medical degree
- Copy of specialist anaesthesiology qualification
- Certificate of registration with the medical board or council of the participant’s country
- Current practicing license from the medical board or council of the participant’s country
- Copy of photograph page of passport.
