The applications for the Full Scholarship for Engineering at Swansea University have opened.
This scholarship is funded by Swansea University’s College of Engineering in:
- Advanced Data-Driven Engineering Design (ADDED): Solids, Structures, and Coupled Systems
Subject areas: Big Data; Machine Learning; High-Performance Computing; Engineering Simulation; Computational Mechanics
Their goal is to establish a platform, which leads to systems and processes that are designed for data and designed by data. To do this, they turn on the design process on its head, it is no longer appropriate for designers to focus solely on the operational use as optimization targets.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Full Scholarship for Engineering at Swansea
- Candidates must have a first or upper second-class honors degree (or its equivalent) or a Master’s degree in a subject area related to the project
- They should have experience with engineering simulation
- Additionally, they must have good programming skills: Python, CUDA, C/C++ Fortran or MATLAB
- Furthermore, the applicants must meet the academic and language requirements by the point of application.
Benefits
The successful candidates will receive the following benefits after enrolling in the scholarship program
- The scholarship covers the full cost of UK/EU/international tuition fees.
- Along with that, the selected candidates will receive an annual stipend of £15,009 – £20,000.
- Furthermore, the University also provides additional funds for research expenses. The ADDED center has an allocated budget which will cover training, cohort activities, equipment, travel, placements and conference attendance.

The selected candidates will investigate and learn about the following topics
- They will learn about the optimization of data collection as well as predictive monitoring of complex systems
- The University teaches them about real-time simulation
- Similarly, the candidates will learn how to handle anomalies and extreme events
- Along with that, they will understand automation with ML from real-world data
- Additionally, the University illustrates Computer vision informed models.
- Furthermore, they will also learn measured and simulated data-driven design of additive manufactured materials
