The applications for the AHRI/UCL MSc Scholarship 2020-2021 have opened.

The AHRI/UCL MSc Scholarship is a singular award for the UK academic year September 2020 to September 2021. Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) administers the scholarship which is for applicants whose academic background and interests align with the programs of research at AHRI.

Also, the candidates will go through a competitive round of selection at AHRI and the successful candidate will be nominated to go through to the UCL selection. Furthermore, application for acceptance onto an MSc taught course is separate, and the AHRI nominee will be guided through this process.

Eligibility Criteria

The interested applicants must meet the following requirements for the AHRI/UCL MSc Scholarship program

  1. The candidates must be permanently based in South Africa at the time of application.
  2. In addition to that, they must hold a valid passport at the time of application.
  3. Also, they must have an Honours degree equivalent to a Bachelor (Honours) degree with Second Class Division
  4. Furthermore, the successful applicant must be in London to start their chosen course in September 2020.

Benefits

The AHRI/UCL MSc Scholarship will cover:

  • Full UCL tuition fees for a one-year full-time taught master’s degree
  • Also, a round-trip economy airfare to and from the UK
  • Additionally, the candidates will get a  monthly stipend to cover housing and living costs for 50 weeks
  • Similarly, they will also receive the National Health Service (NHS) surcharge and Tier 4 visa costs

  • Applied Infectious Disease EpidemiologyWomen’s Health MSc

The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is a multidisciplinary, independent research institute based across two sites in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Their goal is to become a source of fundamental discoveries into the susceptibility, transmission, and cure of HIV, TB, and related diseases. They also seek ways to improve diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
