Columbia SIPA Public Service Scholarship 2026 – Invest in Leadership for Public Good
Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo present the Public Service Scholarship starting Fall 2026. This new initiative supports exceptional leaders committed to contributing to public service through career paths in government, nonprofit sectors, military, national service, and other civic roles. The scholarship underscores SIPA’s mission of building principled leaders dedicated to equity and justice.
Benefits of the Scholarship
- Covers up to 65% of tuition for eligible full-time students in the MIA, MPA, or MPA-DP master’s programs.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Apply to one of the following SIPA degree programs for Fall 2026:
- Master of International Affairs (MIA)
- Master of Public Administration (MPA)
- Master of Public Administration in Development Practice (MPA-DP)
- Have at least 3 years of full-time professional public service experience, including roles in government, nonprofits (501(c)(3)), U.S. military, national service like AmeriCorps or Peace Corps, etc.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.4.
- Demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to continuing public service post-graduation.
Application Process & Timeline
- Application Deadline: December 20, 2025
- Submit the SIPA admissions application and indicate your interest in the Public Service Scholarship.
- Include a supplemental essay explaining your motivation for public service and long-term goals.
- Provide letters of recommendation from public-sector supervisors or colleagues.
- U.S. citizens or permanent residents must complete the FAFSA (Columbia code: 00270).
- Award Notification: Decisions are made at the time of admission.
