SI Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM 2026/27 – Fully Funded Master’s Studies in Sweden for Women in STEM Fields
If you’re a woman from one of the ten eligible countries in Africa or Asia and passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), the SI Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM could be your gateway to a master’s degree in Sweden.
Overview
The Swedish Institute created this scholarship to empower women in STEM, promote leadership, innovation and greater diversity in STEM fields, and contribute to sustainable development in applicants’ home countries.
It supports full-time one- or two-year master’s programmes taught in English at Swedish universities, in eligible STEM disciplines.
Eligibility & Key Requirements
- You must be a female citizen of one of these countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam.
- You must apply for and be admitted to an eligible English-taught STEM master’s programme at a Swedish university.
- You must be liable to pay tuition fees (i.e., a non-EU/EEA student) at Swedish universities.
- You must have documented work experience and leadership experience prior to application.
- You must not have previously received an SI scholarship for studies in Sweden, nor hold a Swedish degree, and must not have lived in Sweden for more than two years in total prior to the scholarship period.
What the Scholarship Covers
- Full tuition fee waiver for the approved master’s programme.
- A monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000 throughout the study period.
- A one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (for students not already living in Sweden).
- Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP) during your studies, and after graduation you become part of the Alumni Network for continued professional development.
Timeline & Application Process
- First apply for your chosen STEM master’s programme through the Swedish University Admissions portal (typically 15 October – 15 January).
- SI’s scholarship application portal opens in February (typically around 9-25 February).
- University admissions results typically announced around late March; scholarship results around late April.
