Nordic Scholarship Programme 2026 (Fully Funded)
The Nordic Scholarship Programme, offered by the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) in Uppsala, Sweden, invites master’s students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers based at universities or research centers in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, or Iceland to apply for a funded one-month research visit to NAI. The programme aims to strengthen Nordic research capacity focused on Africa and foster cross-regional scholarly collaboration.
Who Can Apply?
Ideal candidates must be:
- Affiliated with a recognized university or research centre in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, or Iceland.
- Working in social sciences or humanities, with a focus on Africa-related studies.
- Students or researchers at the master’s, PhD, or postdoctoral level.
- Eligible regardless of nationality, as long as they meet the Nordic affiliation criteria.
What the Programme Offers
Selected scholars receive:
- Travel expenses: Round-trip economy fare from their Nordic residence to Uppsala and back.
- Accommodation: Centrally located lodging during the stay.
- Workspace: A desk and computer in the Institute’s shared office.
- Stipend: SEK 400 per day for living expenses.
- Research tools: Access to NAI’s library, rich with contemporary Africa resources, books, periodicals, and government publications.
- Printing credits: Free photocopying up to 1,000 pages.
Please note: Health or other insurance is not included.
