The call to apply for the first cohort of the One Planet Fellowship is now open. The One Planet Fellowship seeks to build a vibrant, highly connected, and inter generational network of African and European scientist leaders equipped to use a gender lens help Africa’s smallholder farmers adapt to a changing climate.
At the 2017 Summit, 12 commitments consisting of 30 actions were made to intensify and accelerate global efforts to fight climate change. The One Planet Fellowship is Action no. 1 of Commitment no. 3 which focuses on mobilizing researchers and young people to work for the climate. Moreover, the Fellowship will work to build the capacity of high-potential researchers from Africa and Europe to develop relevant, gender-responsive interventions towards climate change adaptation.
Inspired by the AWARD Fellowship Model, the USD 15 million five-year initiative seeks to invest in 600 agricultural scientists through three rounds of open competition. Selected candidates will participate in an intensive, non-residential, career acceleration process aimed at fostering leadership skills, strengthening scientific research skills including integrating gender into their research, and catalyzing research partnerships and networks. Also, Candidates who complete the three-year process will become One Planet Laureates.

The application form is available in both English, and French and applicants are encouraged to access and submit their application form in their most proficient language. Late or incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
