The EatSafe Innovation Challenge is calling on innovators to share their ideas on how existing food safety innovations can be adapted and applied in traditional markets in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

The challenge will take place between April-October 2022 and will be organized as a global initiative including national pitching events in Nigeria and Ethiopia and a global final event will take place in Denmark.

- 30 April: Application deadline
- 02 – 20 May: Screening of applications by EatSafe and food safety experts
- 23 May – 17 June: Long-listed applicants attend workshop series on tools to be used to develop the solutions
- 07 June: World Food Safety Day
- 20 June – 01 July: Expert EatSafe panel screens applications and selects 10 finalists (5 Nigeria and 5 Ethiopia)
- 27 June: World SME Day
- 04 July – 19 August: Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge virtual mentorship program (or in-person)
- 22 – 26 August: Live pitch event in Nigeria/Ethiopia to select 4 national winners
- 10 – 14 October: EatSafe Global Final Event Week
