Falling Walls International Berlin Science Journalism Fellowship 2024 (Fully-funded)

During the Berlin Science Week (1-10 November 2024) and the Falling Walls Science Summit (7-9 November 2024), selected fellows will have the unique opportunity to attend discussions and events featuring the world’s leading figures from science, innovative companies, and research policy.

This programme is designed for experienced science journalists who cover topics related to science and innovation in established media outlets. It offers access to all events during the Berlin Science Week as well as to public sessions and networking events at the Walls Science Summit. The programme also includes an exclusive opportunity for participants to explore Berlin’s innovation ecosystem, meeting key voices from science, technology, and innovation.

Around 12 selected journalists will have the opportunity to meet leading scientists and participants of the Berlin Science Week and Falling Walls Science Summit. In addition, the fellowship provides exclusive insights into Berlin’s research landscape. It offers contacts with research institutions, opportunities for interviews and reporting, as well as a comprehensive programme that includes discussions with representatives of Berlin’s Senate and innovation ecosystem.

Costs of Falling Walls

• The fellowship covers travel expenses, accommodation in Berlin, and the participation fee for both events.

Eligibility for Falling Walls

• Open to science journalists from around the world.
• They aim to increase the representation of women in the fellowship: female journalists are especially encouraged to apply.

Journalists wishing to apply should submit the following documents:

• CV
• Two to three work samples on scientific topics
• Motivation letter (max. 500 words)
