For 2019 entry Birmingham Law School is offering £3,000 funded LLB Graduates Scholarships for international students on the undergraduate LLB programmes and on the LLB for Graduates programme.

Moreover, the University of Birmingham is a public research university located in Edgbaston, Birmingham, United Kingdom. It received its royal charter in 1900 as a successor to Queen’s College, Birmingham and Mason Science College making it the first English civic or ‘red brick’ university to receive its own royal charter. Also, it is a founding member of both the Russell Group of British research universities and the international network of research universities, Universitas 21.

Furthermore, the university is home to the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, housing works by Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet; the Shakespeare Institute; the Cadbury Research Library, home to the Mingana Collection of Middle Eastern manuscripts; the Lapworth Museum of Geology; and the Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower, which is a prominent landmark visible from many parts of the city. Academics and alumni of the university include former British Prime Ministers Neville Chamberlain and Stanley Baldwin, the British composer Sir Edward Elgar and eleven Nobel laureates.

Benefits:

The applicant successful to obtain the scholarship will be awarded £3,000 per annum. However, the scholarship amount will take the form of a fee reduction at the beginning of the programme. Moreover, to retain the scholarship students must gain a minimum of a 2:1 (60%+) in each year of study.  The scholar will lose the scholarship if the s/he fails to meet the grade requirements.

Besides, the students on the Law with French Law or Law with German Law programmes will receive scholarship payments in years 1,2 and 4 assuming all conditions are met. Furthermore, the scholarships are available to all privately funded international students categorized as overseas for fees purposes.

Eligibility Criteria:

The funded LLB for Graduates Scholarships will be available to students who are:

International applicants
Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.

Not already registered on a programme at the University of Birmingham
Applicants must not currently be enrolled on a programme at Birmingham.

Self-funded
You must be self-funding and have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.

In receipt of an offer
You must have applied through UCAS, received an offer and selected the University of Birmingham as your firm choice for a full-time undergraduate law programme starting September 2019. The student must be entering the first year of an undergraduate programme based at Birmingham’s UK campus.

Undertaking one of the following LLB programmes:

• LLB
• LLB for Graduates
• LLB International Law and Globalisation
• LLB with Business
• LLB with Criminology
• LLB with French Law
• LLB with German Law

Award nomination will be based on the following criteria:

• A strength of the supporting statement
• Academic achievements and previous study
• Any relevant professional qualifications and achievements

Moreover, the scholarships are only available for students beginning their programme in September 2019 and cannot be deferred.

However, the Students in receipt of support from other funding bodies which wholly cover their tuition are not eligible to apply for the funded LLB graduates scholarships.

Application Process:

To apply for the funded LLB Graduates Scholarships award the applicants must, by the Friday 24 May 2019 deadline, have done both of the following:

• Made an application to their intended undergraduate law programme. Please apply through UCAS via the relevant programme page on the undergraduate law section of the University of Birmingham website.
• Completed the LLB and LLB for Graduates Scholarship application form.

Also, the application should include a 2000 character (approximately 300 words) statement, in which students should address why they should be made an award. You must include your UCAS ID number in your application.

Successful applicants will be notified in June 2019.
