About Position
The World Health Organization WHO office in New Delhi, Capital city of India is seeking a motivated, highly qualified and experienced officer to do and prepare reports. The Reports Officer will be responsible for following duties under the supervision of the Director of Programme
- Elaborate and monitor the work plan of the Reports and Documents Unit.
- Assume primary responsibility to edit, revise, rewrite and otherwise review a variety of reports, books, publications, and other materials, and SEAR Governing Body documentation, in print or electronic format, which may be complex and highly technical in nature, or for advocacy/fundraising purposes.
- Organize in-house and contractual editing and processing of reports, books, publications and other documents for their design, layout, and presentation.
- Advise South-East Asia Region (SEAR) officials on publishing policies, principles, and procedures related to the preparation of documents.
- Manage the Reports and Documents Unit team as first and second-level supervisor as the case may be, including the work of the Editorial Services, Text Processing and Designing units.
- Train staff of the regional office and country offices periodically on WHO Style Guide and writing for WHO to improve quality and reduce publication errors upstream in coordination with Editor.
- Act as Secretary to the Publishing Policy and Procedures Committee.
- Assure the editorial quality of all documentation for the Regional Committee and other high-level meetings (including the High-level Preparatory Meeting for the Regional Committee and the Regional Committee).
- Coordinating, editing and collating the work of the report writers and editorial assistants at sessions of high-level meetings.
- Preparing and editing Regional Committee resolutions, and editing the final reports of the Regional Committee and other high-level meetings.
Required qualifications
- advanced university degree in English literature, journalism, publishing or a closely related subject, master’s degree in public health or biomedical sciences is desirable
- At least seven years of experience in editing and reviewing texts with an international context.
- Experience in an international organization, preferably WHO, and/or of working in a developing country.
- Experience in editing and production of peer-reviewed health journals.
- Excellent English language skills (writing, editing, proofreading).
- Proficient in MS Office Software applications, data analysis, and technical presentations.
