The New Cosmos of Photography support photographers’ attempts to create still images or videos/movies or a fusion of the two, that goes beyond previous photographic concepts and genres. We regard still images and videos/movies to be continuous and consecutive. We are hoping for brand-new video works that no one has ever seen before.

What will the winner of Canon New Cosmos Of Photography 2019 receive?

Judges at Canon select winners of New Cosmos of Photography in several categories. One winner will receive the grand prize while seven winners are selected for the Excellence Awards category. Further, the judges will mention 14 photography works of the Canon photograph competition in Honorable mention.

Grand Prize winner

• Prize money totaling JPY 1 million (which includes the JPY 200,000 prize money for the Excellence Award)
• Gift of a Canon products
• Permitted to hold a solo exhibition at the New Cosmos of Photography Exhibition 2019

Excellence Award winners

• Prize money totaling JPY 200,000
• Invited to the Public Grand Prize selection committee meeting

Honorable Mention Award winners

• Prize money totaling JPY 30,000

Further, the winners of all the category will get an opportunity to:

• Exhibit their works at the New Cosmos of Photography Exhibition 2019
• Showcase the works on the New Cosmos of Photography website
• Publish their works in the next issue of the New Cosmos of Photography Magazine

Who can submit in the Canon Photo Contest 2019?

Photographers, professional or amateur may submit their photography works at the Canon Photo Contest 2019. However, photographers must respect the age limit for making a submission. Hence, candidates below the age of 16 may not submit their work without consent.

• Further, Canon photography competitions are accessible to international photographers and accept submission from international photographers too.
• Also, both, an individual or a group may enter the competition.
• Moreover, the New Cosmos of Photography competition is free to enter.
• However, employees of Canon and their immediate family members may not enter the competition

How to submit photos at Canon Photography competition 2019?

A digital entry may either be an image or a video. Further, the contestant must register online before entering their work into the competition. Image may be sent via post. However, a video must be uploaded in MP4 format. Here’s a guideline on how to make a submission of the digital work:

Still image data

• The image size should be 1200 x 1600 pixels or larger (recommended). Up to 100 photos or 1,000 MB (1GB) upload is permissible
• The recommended file format is JPEG with a resolution of 72 dpi or greater.
• sRGB color space standard for the judging process.

Video/movie data

• The contestant may use any photographic device to take the video work.
• The total file size of the still images or videos cannot exceed 1,000 MB(1GB). The video format should be in MP4.
• Music used in video works must be free of any stop-use or other actions from third parties. Original music that the contestant holds the copyright to may be used.

When is the deadline of the Canon New Cosmos of Photography Competition?

Canon accepts photograph submission for New Cosmos of Photography competition until June 12, 2019. Canon doesn’t entertain entries after the deadline.
