The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) is looking for the best photographs from around the world that depict weather in its widest sense. The RMetS Weather Photographer of the Year award aims to encourage and recognize the young generation of weather photographers and is an important element of the competition’s ethos.
From weather phenomena to the impact of weather, we are looking for stunning images that showcase the sometimes dramatic, often fascinating impact and the story of weather. However, this competition will not consider images showing the longer-term impact of weather on the environment, landscapes or people, such as climate change. For the RMetS’ Weather Photographer of the Year, photographers may submit images that capture the beauty, power, occasional absurdity and fragility in the face of human activity. This could include:
A jury of meteorologists, photographers and editors will select the winners. The winner in the first place of the RMetS Weather photographer of the winner 2019 will receive an award along with a cash prize of £500. Further, they will also receive a Hero7 Go Pro.
RMetS Wheather Photographer of the Year is open for citizens of all countries. Hence, professional photographers, as well as young photographers, may enter the competition.
Moreover, the photographers may submit up to 5 photographs for the photo contest. However, the photographs may not be older than 3 years by the submission date.
Entrants may submit their photographs online. Moreover, the entrants will require to register an account which they can use to submit the photographs. The photographs must be in JPG format and less than 5MB. Further, the longest side of the photographer should be at a maximum 2500px. Additionally, the images should be in sRGB color space.
