In 2019, the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop brings together students and professionals from across Africa. This year, They experience the richness of Kigali, Rwanda. Further, where students learn from some of the world’s leading photojournalists. This workshop, hosted by the VII Academy in partnership with PhotoWings, will inspire and educate another generation of talented Foundry students.
Join us in Kigali, Rwanda, from August 11th to the 17th, 2019! Foundry comes to the heart of Africa and invites photographers from across the continent and beyond to a week of inspiration and education. all the loyal Foundry volunteers over the years!
The workshop starts on Sunday with Registration and a series of presentations that will prepare you for the week ahead. Throughout the week, students will meet with their instructors and class for part of each day for a lecture and/or critique. When not in a class, you’ll work on your personal project. On Monday evening, there is a Portfolio Review. Also, other evenings there are presentations and topic panels for all students, faculty, and staff. Wednesday you will have the evening off for shooting. Further, On Friday evening you will assemble your final slideshow presentations as a class. Saturday is packed with presentations to help further your career with Marketing and Business advice culminating with the Final Slideshow in the evening. Students will also receive a detailed schedule on the first day of the workshop. You can expect to be very, very busy!
full scholarships along with travel stipends to residents and citizens of African countries.
Eligibility
those with a range of photographic experience but prioritize those who show a deep commitment to and passion for photography and visual journalism.
