Applications are now open for the University of Chester Sports Scholarship 2019-20. The University of Chester is a public university located in the historic city of Chester, England. The university, based on three campuses in Chester and one in Warrington, offers a range of foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as undertaking academic research. Scholarships will only be confirmed after enrolment on a course and will be available for a maximum of three years as an undergraduate and one year as a postgraduate. However, it should be noted that selection onto the scheme is not an automatic year on year. All scholars must reapply each year.

Moreover, sports scholars will be expected to comply with the requirements of the scheme and with any modifications that the University may make to it throughout the period of the scholarship. These requirements include competing for the University in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) events.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for an award, applicants must:

• be an undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of Chester, or an applicant holding an offer with the intention of studying at the University
• Also, be actively representing in their sport at national/international level
• fulfill all the academic requirements to progress on to the next level of their course.

Application process

• In most circumstances, shortlist applicants will be welcome to attend a sports specific screening and assessment at the University during pre-season training in late August onwards.
• Also, a final decision on the award will then be and awards will be allocate at the start of the new academic year in September.
