The International Peace Research Association (IPRA) Foundation invites applications for the Dorothy Marchus Senesh Fellowship in Peace and Development Studies for Women from countries in the Global South. Dorothy Senesh was a long-time activist for international peace and justice. Her husband, Lawrence, established this fellowship following her death in 1989. The IPRA Foundation made its first award at the 25th Anniversary conference, July 1990, in Groningen, Netherlands. Since then, IPRA Foundation offers Seesh fellowship on a biennial basis.
The IPRA Foundation offers Dorothy Marchus Senesh Fellowship for Women every other year to two women. The recipients receive school expenses in the amount of $5,000 per year for two years.
The Dorothy Senesh Fellowship is available to women from countries in the Global South. Moreover, the fellowship is available to women with a Bachelor’s degree. Further, the fellow should receive an offer letter to a graduate program. The graduate program must focus on issues related to the goals of IPRA. The selected candidate will receive funds only after receiving admission into a graduate program. Since the Senesh Fellowship is a need-based award, therefore students with substantial funding sources are less likely to receive the award.
Further, the fellowship candidates must note that this fellowship is not for research purposes and proposals. Nor male candidates are eligible for the award. Also, undergraduate students or students not from a country in the Global South may not apply.
Women candidates can apply for the Dorothy Marchus Senesh Fellowship by downloading the application. The application is available in both English and Spanish Languages.
After completing the application, the candidates must send it via email. The email should constitute:
Candidates must send one copy of the application form to the Program Administrative Assistant Ms. Crystal N. Money.
The IPRA Foundation accepts the Dorothy Senesh Fellowship application until 15 January 2020. Applications arriving after the deadline are, however, not eligible for the fellowship.
