The University of Westminster is hosting Chevening Africa Media Freedom Fellowship (CAMFF) which is fully funded by the UK Foreign and the Commonwealth Foundation. The applications are open for the fellowship for African citizens.
The Chevening Africa Media Freedom Fellowship (CAMFF) aims mid-senior level African professionals with demonstrable leadership skills in their fields, which may include public servants working in areas of media policy and regulatory frameworks, or media professionals such as journalists.
Fellows will undertake a bespoke 8-week fellowship program titled ‘New Media for a New Africa: Freedom of Speech, Economic Prosperity, and Good Governance’. The program will combine the professional development of the values of good journalism with an understanding of new opportunities while making reporting more effective. Hence, journalists will be able to use new ways to enhance their reach and impact.
This program will bring together 12 leading media and information practitioners and regulators from 11 countries. The course promotes a vigorous exchange of ideas and experience, and constructive learning, between participants and course leaders. Moreover, the fellows participate in seminars and speaker talks, off-site visits and fieldwork. Further, the fellows will participate in individual and group coursework projects. Likewise, they will take an active role in their professional and career development. They will also engage actively throughout the program and as part of the network.
