MPOWER is creating globally-minded, multi-lingual, culturally-competent graduates poised to take on the world’s most pressing problems in science, technology, business, and public policy through Global Citizen Scholarships. The MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarships identifies the extraordinary talents of the students and aids their dream of higher education in the USA and Canada. Furthermore, this scholarship intentionally designed this scholarship program to be as broad as possible to match the broad, diverse experiences of international students. And there’s no requirement to be an MPOWER borrower to apply.

Eligibility

Candidates must have the following things in order to be eligible for MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarships

• Acceptance letter or evidence of enrollment on a full-time degree program at the U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports.
• Must be an international student with a legal permit to study in the U.S. or Canada, as applicable.
• For study in the U.S., this means that the applicant is either a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, or has a valid visa that permits study in the U.S.
• Similarly, for study in Canada, this means the applicant is either a Canadian permanent resident or has a valid Canadian study permit.
• Furthermore, this scholarship is not available for US or Canadian citizens who wish to study in their own country of citizenship.

Selection Criteria

MPOWER Financing will offer the scholarship for international applicants to study in USA and Canada depending upon the following features

• Quality and clarity of the applicant’s essay. Moreover, the essay should demonstrate clarity of thought, compelling goals and vision, and superior communication skills in English.
• Similarly, the extent to which there is a clear nexus between the applicant’s field of study and his/her goals and aspirations.
• Furthermore, the applicant’s potential as a scientist, entrepreneur, leader, and/or change-maker who will make a positive impact.

Funding

MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarships will offer one $5,000 grand prize scholarship. In addition to that, the scheme offers other four $3,000 scholarships for this scholarship cycle.

Application deadline

The last day to submit applications for this cycle is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on April 15, 2020.
