- It is seeking an experienced mental health professional with experience in reducing barriers to student mental health care in a multicultural university environment, to provide counseling and clinical services for a diverse student population.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will do the following duties
- Primary responsibilities for this position will be addressing the mental health needs of students to foster their matriculation and academic success at UCSD.
- This position requires proven knowledge, training, expertise, and demonstrated sustained engagement in working with under-represented students and young adults, towards their personal development, well-being, and academic success.
- Additionally, he/she performs psychological assessments towards diagnosis and the formulation of a treatment plan, the provision of brief psychotherapy and referral of students for an appropriate level of care in an interdisciplinary, high-volume setting.
- Also, he/she participates in after-hours on-call and on-campus urgent care coverage.
- Furthermore, the incumbent provides consultation to faculty, staff and administration, engages in mental health promotion and education to a diverse college population and delivers community-based preventive outreach including psycho-educational programming and evaluation.
- Additionally, he/she also provides supervision and training of CAPS Post-doctoral Residents and maintains quality assurance and improvement in compliance standards.
Qualifications
The candidate should meet the following requirements for the Vacancy for Counseling Psychologist in the USA at the University of California
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an accredited program in clinical psychology and completion of an APA accredited Internship
- Additionally, a current, valid license in California as a psychologist. Out-of-state licensed psychologists have 180 days to complete licensure requirements in the State of California.
- Also, thorough knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct. Knowledge of the current laws, procedures, and the American Psychological Association ethical principles that govern the practice of psychology in the State of California.
- Furthermore, he/she must have the ability to conduct brief individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. Ability to relate warmly, humanely, sensitively and empathetically to others.
- Strong skill in effectively managing mental health emergencies. Knowledge of community resources and the ability to make appropriate referrals.
- Also, he/she should have demonstrated working knowledge of electronic medical/mental health records systems (EMR or EHR).
- Proven experience working effectively with a diverse population and traditionally underrepresented student groups.
- Moreover, thorough knowledge associated with providing evaluation, diagnosis and psychotherapy services. Skills to conduct intake clinical interviews, psycho-diagnostic assessment, treatment plan formulation, and recommendations.
