Duties

The incumbent will have the following duties

  • Develop and implement data management and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Additionally, lead the effort in planning and implementing a cloud-based data storage facility for all telescope data.
  • Also, implement a data migration strategy for obsolete storage media.
  • Manage data flows from the telescope to the online storage and on-site archiving system.
  • Furthermore, create detailed business cases and cost plans.
  • Works within an international team and provide clear leadership and direction to its members, including integrating with and providing oversight of development deliverables owned by 3rd party resources.
  • Moreover, he/she will manage projects to deliver against agreed scope, on time and within budget.
  • Develop processes for identifying and cataloging existing new data, their analytics processes, programs, dashboards, etc.
  • Furthermore, the incumbent will manage demand portfolio (current & future initiatives) and govern end-to-end solution architecture, solution delivery and the associated support framework across the domain-specific application ecosystem across internal and/or cloud platforms.
  • Evaluate and make necessary changes to system specifications and components to ensure the application configuration, and underlying infrastructure, meet accepted standards.
  • Likewise, plan for and ensure appropriate processes are in place for high availability and recoverability of systems and data to enable uninterrupted and continued business operations.

Qualifications

The incumbent should meet the given criteria for the

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems / Software Engineering/Information Technology or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Also, experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud System required.
  • 3-5 years managing large data projects.
  • Project Management Experience required. PMP certification preferred.
  • Likewise, 4-6 yrs. database and web programming,
  • 3-5 yrs. programming with high-level scripting languages in Linux/Unix environment.
  • Furthermore, Energetic individuals, with a passion for technology.
  • Excellent communication skills. Self-Starter.
  • Similarly, solid knowledge of object-oriented programming and design.
  • Also, experience with multithreading, real-time systems and socket programming.

  • Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English.
