Duties
Under the overall supervision of the Hub Director and direct supervision of the Head of Programme the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
- Provide substantive support to the Head of Programme in day to day management of Amman Operational Hub projects in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, with focus on communications (external and internal);
- Additionally, coordinate inputs and produce briefings, presentations and background materials.
- Likewise, develop a communications strategy for the Amman Operational Hub, covering both internal and external communications;
- Provide substantive content for and manage the Amman Hub intranet page and individual country pages and social media, highlighting project achievements and other relevant information;
- Additionally, work with the communications officers in different projects to ensure regular publication of substantive materials.
- Also, develop key messages on UNOPS programming in the region, including for partners, local and international media;
- Furthermore, draft press releases regarding ongoing projects and work closely with the Partnerships Unit, the Project Managers, and the Head of Programme on visibility activities for all partnerships as stipulated in the partnership agreements and so on…
Qualifications
Education
- A first-level university degree with a relevant combination in communications, journalism, public relations, international development, political science, international relations or other relevant disciplines with 2 years of additional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in Research and Analysis, Reporting, External Relations, Communications, Advocacy, Outreach and/or related field. That includes including at least 2 years of demonstrated experience in managing organisation level and/or multi-sectoral communications.
- Additionally, experience in producing analytical reports and communication products.
- Also, in the humanitarian and/or development sector is required.
- Likewise, in preparing, coordinating, and leading donor-reporting processes is an asset.
Language:
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required.
