Duties
The objective of the assignment is to provide Mechanical Engineering Quality Assurance services during the implementation, taking over/substantial completion stage and defect liability period of the works.
Under the overall direction of the Senior Programme Manager and direct supervision of the LIF Project Manager, the Mechanical Engineer for quality assurance of works will be responsible to conduct regular site visits to assess and establish the conformity of mechanical works with the designs (bill of quantities, technical specifications, and drawings, as well as with relevant regulations and professional norms/standards).
Under this task, the Mechanical Engineer for quality assurance of works will:
- Familiarise him/herself with the general and special/particular contract conditions (UNDP or FIDIC);
- Review the designs (BoQ, technical specifications and drawings);
- Offer submitted by the contractor;
- Review the methods of measurement developed by the contractor/engineer; and
- Submit a plan for QA.
Additional Duties
- Organize and conduct up to 3 spot check site visits depending on the QA plan;
- Also, carry out quality and quantity surveys during the site visits;
- Likewise, inspect the quality of in-built mechanical equipment in accordance with the contracted BoQ and design documents;
- Additionally, determine the extent and nature of defects discovered during the survey of executed works, if any;
- Likewise, examine building site documentation to see if the defects were noted by the engineer and instructions given to the contractor to remedy them;
- Evaluate executed works in accordance with good practices, as well as project standards

Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering
Experience:
- At least 15 years of postgraduate professional experience
- Also, at least 5 years of experience in mechanical works management within infrastructure projects
- Additionally, at least 10 years of experience in construction supervision and quality assurance for mechanical works
- Also, the experience of the Cyprus context will be an asset
Language Requirements:
- Excellent English skills (both written and verbal)
- Likewise, knowledge of Turkish Language is an asset
