The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies Office of Human Resources and Payroll Services provides full HR support in employment-related matters, compliance, and student employment services to all SAIS faculty, staff, and student employees.
Essential Duties
- The employee serves as the first point of contact to faculty, staff, and students employees regarding payroll questions.
- Additionally, review and process all electronic payment requests submitted through (SmartSheet).
- Also, the incumbent initiates all payroll internal services requests (ISRs) into SAP ensuring accuracy and quality standards and adheres to ISR deadlines.
- Likewise, the candidate should have a thorough understanding of SAP functionality and modules. Also, he/she should be able to independently resolve payroll issues.
- Reviews and processes contracts and appointment letters for new faculty and scholars to ensure accuracy and minimize payroll errors.
- Monitor time and attendance forms for staff via the E210 system.
- Oversee the updating/approval of managers on E210 system
- Furthermore, the candidate should monitor the overtime approval workflow process on SmartSheet to ensure accuracy overtime reporting, timely processing, and supervisor approval.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly desired. High school diploma/GED.
- Additionally, three (3) years of related experience.
- Also, additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of payroll and HR practices, systems and regulations
- Interpersonal skills to collaborate in a team environment
- Additionally, the ability to multi-task effectively and to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines
- Also, the ability to manage email and other electronic communications effectively
- Knowledge of laws/governance, legal procedures, regulations, and rules
- Knowledge of SAP or ability to quickly learn as demonstrated through experience with similar database software.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, including a solid foundation with Excel and the ability to create and manage spreadsheets
- Likewise, the incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Also, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Knowledge of applicable HR regulations and JHU personnel policies
- Experience with the JHU SAP system strongly preferred
- Project management or lean process skills
