The Environmental Studies Program is an interdisciplinary major that allows students to earn BA and BS degrees in Environmental Studies and Environmental Science. Students may concentrate on ecosystems, earth science, natural resources, environmental chemistry, public policy, environmental planning, and environmental economics.

Additonally, the program is rapidly growing and has tremendous student demand. As a program, Environmental Studies integrates a variety of disciplines. Also, it draws on faculty involvement from biology, geology, geography, anthropology, philosophy, economics, political science, and public administration. Likewise, it started as a program in 1974 at the Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University.

Requirements for Vacancy for Instructor in Environmental Science

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology. Evidence of active field research in ecology that includes student involvement and publications. Also, previous undergraduate teaching experience is required with documentation of integrating research into classroom instruction. Also, the candidate must have experience conducting interdisciplinary approaches to issues involving sustainability and environmental science with community-engaged dimensions. Additionally, the University is seeking a dynamic, innovative instructor with a commitment to high-quality, rigorous, undergraduate education.
