The Department of International Public Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is seeking a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate. He/she will join a team engaged in conducting research on the prevention and management of HIV-infection and non-communicable diseases in Africa.
The research group is funded by the UK National Institute of Health Research and by a Horizon 2020 award from the European Union until the end of 2022. The vision is for the program to expand well beyond 2023, in both scopes of activities and scale.
The key function of this post will be to coordinate data analyses across various research studies and clinical trials on the prevention and management of HIV-infection and non-communicable diseases and contribute to writing reports of research findings and manuscripts for publications.
Additionally, this is a unique opportunity for a statistician to get the first-hand experience of clinical research in a global health environment. The post holder will be based in Liverpool with occasional overseas travel, working with colleagues in Africa in data management and supervised by epidemiologists and senior statisticians.
The incumbent should be someone with a postgraduate degree in medical statistics, biostatistics, or equivalent. Also, with excellent statistical analysis skills, knowledge of epidemiological research methods, and several years’ experience. Additionally, you must also have experience of study design and contributing to grant applications, a good publication record, and excellent communication and team working skills. Furthermore, the experience of working in a low-resource setting will be advantageous.
