Job Description
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer works with subject matter experts from all areas across the University, including Academic Affairs; Business, Finance, and Administration; Advancement; Enrollment and the Student Experience; IVMF; Human Resources, and the University’s schools and colleges. Additionally, this work includes integration of data-driven business processes, development of data interfaces, critical tactical and strategic analytical activities, data security and access, as well as the development of in-depth dashboards and reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Also, a minimum (3) three year’s relevant work experience.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Advanced experience with or knowledge of most of the following software, languages, and tools, or similar products is preferred.
- Likewise, the relational database and SQL skills experience required (Oracle and SQLServer).
- Furthermore, reporting development tools to experience required (e.g. Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Hyperion Interactive Reporting tool preferred).
- Data modeling experience.
- Also, Extract Transform Load (ETL) experience required (IBM DataStage preferred).
- Likewise, Linux and Windows operating system experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and modify relational and multidimensional database structures, relationships, data flow and data interfaces within the data warehouse as needed.
- Also, understand thoroughly the architecture, data structures, and fundamental design principles of the data warehouse.
- Likewise, use programming languages, software development methods, “best practice” programming techniques, and department standards guides to develop new data warehouse structures and reports and to modify existing ones to meet user requirements, to function efficiently and effectively, and to comply with departmental standards.
- Also, analyze and modify the data structures within the data warehouse to adapt them to the university’s business needs
- Likewise, provide production support and on-call support including problem analysis and resolution, including during and after work hours.
- Monitor and update issue logs with status and resolution information per project standards, department standards, and/or as requested.
