Position Highlights
The Director of Student Development (SD) provides direction and leadership for services and resources that foster, promote, and leverage policies, programs, and innovations to enable successful academic progression for all students.
Duties
Oversee the following areas- COM-P Student Development and COM-P resident learning
- Supervise a team of learning specialists, including COMP and Pathway Scholars Master’s Program.
- Moreover, manage overall tutorial and academic support services. Assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of tutors.
- Manage SD budget.
- Likewise, design and coordinate services, programs, and resources that support student retention, academic success, and individualized support throughout the medical school curriculum. * General areas of instruction include, but not limited to: self and time-management, learning modalities, as well as learning, study, test-taking strategies.
- Additionally, work with appropriate individuals to assist in the management and continuous quality improvement for our student retention programs and provide a comprehensive plan for USMLE exams and NBME subject exam preparation
- Also, maintain and oversee systems for monitoring the academic progress of students. With the SD Team, provide statistical information, trends, and reports to enhance programs and service delivery.
- Likewise, work closely with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs (SA) to ensure student success.
Qualifications for Vacancy for Director
- Generally requires a Master’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. in psychology, education, counseling, or related field.
- Also, teaching experience in the areas of basic science coursework, study skills, test-taking skills, and high stakes test preparation for students from various backgrounds and educational levels.
- Furthermore, experience working with medical students in this role.
