Description

International Water Management Institute (IWMI) seeks applications from suitable candidates to undertake a short-term assignment under IWMI’s Water Risks and Development Resilience (WR2DR) research program.

Duties

  • Integrate diverse data sources (i.e., satellite data, GIS layers, survey data, and socio-economic data) to develop a decision support tool on products related to floods and droughts.
  • Likewise, implement geospatial algorithms derived from Remote Sensing (RS) data which are available in Google Earth Engine and Amazon Web Services.
  • Also, develop flexible codes to convert Java Scripts to Python scripts and Jupyter Notebooks, and vice versa for the operationalization of the science products in the cloud platform.
  • Likewise, develop visualization App, analytical tools, and API integration in the wider context of floods and droughts dashboards.
  • Prepare dataflow documentation and framework as well as user guides for system transferability and its operational capabilities.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in computer sciences/geoinformatics or allied subjects
  • Also, advance knowledge of web portal development and API integration.
  • Additionally,  clear understanding of RS data analysis and geographic information systems, with at least 2-3 years of experience.
  • Also, well versed in handling RS time series data and integrating various sensors’ data in cloud platform specifically in GEE and AWS.

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, Python. Also, Jupyter Notebook, Map server, third-party API’s integration, and cloud platforms, as well as experience in Open Source Code development.
  • Likewise, knowledge of applying remote sensing time series data analysis in the cloud platform.
  • Also, excellent understanding and experience in GEE App customization and web interface with cloud data analytics.
