Major Duties
Accessibility review and evaluation
- Create concise, prioritized accessibility evaluation reports for use by various stakeholder groups, including university staff and prospective software vendors
- Also, the incumbent assess and improve the accessibility of software interfaces, websites, and online applications
- Additionally, apply technology accessibility standards and best practices, as well as usability best practices to information design challenges
- Recommend and implement metrics to measure improvements to accessibility
- Furthermore, recommend improvements to streamline accessibility processes and standard operating procedures
- Partner with the Technology Services Help Desk by setting and managing the expectations of customers
- Also, act as an advocate for Technology Services customers in service planning and deployment across the organization
- Likewise, coordinate with IT professionals at all levels
Qualifications for Vacancy for Accessibility Specialist
- Two years of progressively responsible work experience in web design, user experience design, or information design that included generating accessibility reports and using accessibility evaluation tools.
- College coursework which included web design, user experience design, information design, or web accessibility may substitute for experience:
- 60 semester hours of or an Associate’s degree may substitute for one year of experience
- Likewise, 90 semester hours or a Bachelor’s degree may substitute for two years.
Salary and Appointment Information
This is a full-time Civil Service IT Technical Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after September 16, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience.
