Duties
This Researcher position supports the Food Prices for Nutrition (FPN) project’s work to strengthen national capacity. He/she uses data on diet costs and affordability to guide agricultural investments, food policy and program interventions. Additionally, the incumbent will convene national user groups, first online and eventually in person, across nine priority countries with a high burden of malnutrition, including Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Nigeria and Tanzania as well as India, Bangladesh and Pakistan and possibly elsewhere. Furthermore, each user group will bring stakeholders together to review the available data on food prices and diet costs. Also, disseminate results and guide analyses over time, including use of econometric and simulation models developed at Tufts
Qualifications for Vacancy for Researcher
Basic Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a field related to agriculture, food systems and nutrition policy, with 3+ years research experience.
- Also, at least 1 year of fieldwork in Africa and/or Asia featuring engagement with national government officials and other stakeholders relating to agriculture, food systems and nutrition policy.
- Likewise, excellence in research project management, data analysis and communications research relating to agriculture, food systems and nutrition in Africa and Asia.

- Familiarity with the scientific basis, policy priorities and institutional arrangements used to advance international agriculture, food systems and nutrition around the world.
- Furthermore, high levels of communications skill, organizational and managerial ability, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task particularly when engaging with development agencies and government officials.
- Ability to interact and effectively collaborate with diverse colleagues, working independently to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
- Additionally, proficiency in use of software for data management and statistical analysis (Stata or R) as well as research project management and communications in diverse office environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with food prices, food markets and consumer behavior.
- Experience convening stakeholder groups, including organization of in-person workshops.
- Also, experience in diverse domains of the food system, from agriculture and the environment to human health.
- Furthermore, interest and ability to move from fieldwork to doctoral-level research.
