About the Program:
The Pierce College Nursing Program supports students in successfully earning an Associate Degree in Nursing. Following successful completion of our program, students enter the workforce or transition to BSN programs at such institutions as the University of Washington and St. Martins University. This position reports to the Nursing Program Director.
Duties
The incumbent will do the following duties
Responsibilities of the successful candidate include:
- Teaching didactic, lab, and clinical nursing courses in a manner that advances equitable student success;
- Similarly, serving as a mentor/success coach for students in the program;
- Engaging in curriculum and program development that incorporates current educational theories and research;
- Also, analyzing course assessments, evaluations, and other data to drive continuous improvement of the learning environment in order to advance student achievement of outcomes, success in subsequent courses, and impact on retention and graduation;
- Likewise, demonstrating multicultural competence, including an awareness and understanding of historically marginalized populations, and creating an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion;
- Working within a collaborative and innovative department to advance student success;
- Engaging in district-wide efforts to improve student retention and success;
- Incorporating active student learning and inclusive pedagogy, as well as appropriate use of technology in the classroom
Qualifications for Vacancy for Assistant Professor
Required:
- Have an active, unencumbered Washington state registered nurse license or the ability to obtain one by September 14, 2020.
- Also, have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Additionally, have a graduate degree in a nursing, health or education related field from an accredited college or university.
- OR
- Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field and an associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Also, have earned a graduate degree in a nursing from an accredited college or university.
