Duties
The incumbent will have the following duties
- Establishing the Global Plan of Action as the central mechanism of engagement for practitioners and policy makers working on energy activities in displacement settings;
- Similarly, supervising and providing guidance to the staff members of the Coordination Unit;
- Also, assisting the Manager of PTPU in fundraising activities to securing staffing needs (including consultants, individual contractors and interns/trainees);
- Likewise, planning and conducting of the Steering Group meetings;
- Overseeing the coordination and communications as well as providing content support to the Global Plan of Action Task forces;
- Likewise, liaising with members of the Steering Group as well as with broader community members, including providing relevant guidance on GPA engagement;
- Similarly, supporting the monitoring and cohesion of sector activities with the Global Plan of Action Work Plan, fostering collaboration rather than duplication of ongoing activities;
- Also, supporting the development of project proposals in conjunction with project partners (as applicable), including fundraising.
Supporting the Clean Energy Challenge in cooperation with UNHCR:
- Co-Chair in close collaboration with UNHCR, the Clean Energy Challenge, in particular by preparing strategic concept notes with activities and timelines, securing staffing needs and supporting donors by resourcing the work
- Engage with relevant stakeholders to develop alternative Energy Delivery Methods
Providing substantive support in planning, integrating and coordinating additional implementations initiatives in the area of energy for displacement, peace and beyond:
- Identifying potential areas for further development and incubating new initiatives and methodologies with the goal of enhancing the diversity and effectiveness of the energy portfolio;
- Likewise, planning, integrating and coordinating the design and development of assigned energy projects e.g. under the areas of displacement, health, peace.
Qualifications for Vacancy for Specialist at UNITAR
Minimum requirements
Experience : A minimum of five years of responsible professional experience in the field of international organizations/diplomacy
Education : Advanced university degree in international / European studies, international relations, political science, or a related field with proven interest in the area of peace and security. Also, a first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Language : Fluency in written and spoken English.
Desired requirements
Fluency in one or more official UN languages is desirable.
