Position Description

The Deputy Chief Information Officer and Director of Technical Services provides leadership and guidance in the development, deployment, and support of enterprise level technology/security solutions and initiatives for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the University of Mississippi (UM).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Information Security Officer (ISO) for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
• Also, directly supervise the Technical Services (TS) division of OIT which includes Systems Administration, Network Administration, Basis Administration, Data Center Operations, Desktop Repair, and Security. This area is comprised of five managers and associated staff including technical administrators, Data Center operators, the IT Security Coordinator, and hardware/operating system specialists.
• Likewise, provide specific budget oversight/planning for TS and OIT in general. This includes long term and short term financial planning in support of the campus technical infrastructure, the operation of the campus Data Center, and general OIT support.
• Furthermore, provide leadership and direction in developing the technical posture of the campus Data Center and the campus infrastructure. This includes long-term roadmaps for maintaining and upgrading that infrastructure while incorporating appropriate emerging technologies.
• Serve on behalf of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in his/her absence as appropriate.
• Also, assist the CIO in all aspects of departmental and institutional strategic planning in support of existing technology, emerging technology, security, and financial stability.
• Additionally, assist the CIO in developing governance, project management, and service guidelines in support of OIT and campus initiatives.

Qualifications for Deputy Chief Information Officer Vacancy

The incumbent will have to meet the given criteria

• BS degree.
• Also, at least 5 years senior leadership experience in a largescale technology environment managing people, teams and projects.
• Likewise, experience in IT security including a proven record of managing security postures, projects, and requirements.
• Also, experience managing SAP in an enterprise environment.
• Experience developing the technical posture of a Data Center and the supporting infrastructure.
• A proven record in the successful management of large scale budgets and contracts.
• Also, a proven ability to foster collaboration and cooperation in a dynamic and demanding work environment.
