Applications are open for Model United Nations Heilbronn (MUNHN 2021). Model United Nations Heilbronn is a political simulation game. As part of MUNHN, the participants simulate a United Nations (UN) conference. Moreover, they take on the role of diplomats and discuss current global political issues.

Model United Nations Heilbronn (MUNHN 2021)

Model United Nations Heilbronn, MUNHN for short, is a political simulation game for schoolchildren (aged 14 and over) and young students in which the participants simulate a United Nations (UN) conference. The conference takes place once a year in Heilbronn. In addition, the Association for Political Youth Education is active throughout Germany with various projects.

As part of MUNHN, the participants simulate the delegation of a member state of the United Nations and slip into the role of delegates in order to represent the interests of the state as authentically as possible. Or they try to influence the decision-making processes as representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGO) such as Human Rights Watch.

Conference Schedule

• Opening event: The conference will be officially opened with the opening event. In addition to the ceremonial speech by the Secretary-General, the committees, countries represented and NGOs are presented. Furthermore, the delegates / NGO representatives get an introduction to the diplomatic code and the rules of procedure.
• Formal meetings: In the formal meetings, the delegates debate the agenda items in their committees, work out resolutions and adopt them. The formal meetings are moderated by the chair and follow a precisely defined process.
• Speaking evening: Friday is rounded off by the evening of speakers. The program includes exciting discussions with “real” diplomats and experts.
• Diplomatic ball: If possible, it will hold a diplomatic ball or a final evening adapted to the situation.

Costs

• The conference participation fee is € 50 per person. Overall, the participation fee covers the costs of holding the conference (administration, selected meals, conference materials).
• The participants are responsible for their own arrival. Further information on accommodation options will be provided after the application has been accepted. It hopes to be able to offer discounted overnight rates.
