UNHCR is opening a vacancy for Assistant Development Officer in Uganda.
UNHCR Sub-Office Yumbe is promoting various socio-economic interventions. It is also adopting implementation arrangements and approaches that are primarily aimed at facilitating the shift of refugee households from dependency to more self-reliance. UNHCR Sub-Office Yumbe is therefore opening job vacancy for an Assistant Development Officer to support the Operation’s efforts.
This UNHCR job vacancy is open to applications from Group 1, Group 2 and all external candidates.
Candidates must be primarily Ugandan nationals. The minimum educational requirement for this position is a university degree.

The incumbent may supervise some support staff and may receive indirect guidance from other sections and units.
In addition, staff members should discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCR’s core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity.
Help ensure evidence generated from analytical and advisory services.
Assist in planning for resilience and inclusion with a clear shared vision of longer-term protection and solution outcomes for people of concern.
Support the facilitation of the development of comprehensive multi-year transition strategies for Persons of Concern to UNHCR or facilitate the inclusion of populations of concern into national and local development planning and programming instruments.
Also, support the identification, strategic articulation and capitalization of development and resilience opportunities.
In addition, support the operation to ensure that development actors are provided relevant data to inform their planning, programming and advocacy around resilience for inclusion of UNHCR persons of concern.
Also, support the facilitation, coordination, collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and experience between UNHCR and development actors and across UNHCR operations globally.
In addition, support training activities aimed at the capacity building of UNHCR and partner agency staff.
For P1/NOA – 1 year relevant experience with Undergraduate degree in Development Economics, Development Studies, Socioeconomic Development, International Relations, Political Science, Law, or other relevant fields.
One year of direct work experience in a large international development institution in a relevant position.
experience in field operations.
Preferably with knowledge or experience in, local or area-based economic development
direct engagement in a technical sector.
Also has practical experience working with and an understanding of the different aspects of economic growth, governance, fragility and conflict.
In addition, expertise related to the governance of specific multilateral development banks or bilateral development actors is most relevant to the AoR.
Desirable Qualification
Experience with forced displacement.
Experience in primary data collection, quantitative research methods and results-based management.
Language Requirements
For National Professional jobs, knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English and local language.
