The Fish Art Contest is now open to all students in grades K-12 (ages 5-18). To compete Participants will submit an entry consisting of a completed entry form, an original illustration of a fish of their choice as well as a one-page creative writing submission.
How to Enter the 2022 Fish Art Contest
Select any fish species of your choice.
Utilize the Fish On! Lesson Plan, books, and reputable online resources to research your fish species.
Then, start for your submission by creating your State-Fish Art Entry consisting of two parts:
Part A
An original HORIZONTAL illustration between 8.5″- 9″ tall and 11″- 12″ wide in size featuring a species of your choice.
Part B
A personally written essay (one side of one page) relating to your chosen fish species.
You may also choose to answer the question “Why do you think it is important to protect our lakes, rivers, estuaries and coastlines?” However, it is not required for contestants in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade or from countries other than the USA.
Complete a contest Entry Form. Be sure to choose the Entry Form for your state, if applicable.
Finally submit your Entry either by mailing the physical entry form to the official address or submitting them online.
The Fish Art Contest Digital Classroom is an interactive opportunity for students to learn more about the contest. Visit the official website to get access to the classroom and get detailed information about the competition.
Prize
All the participants will get a digital participants certificate despite not winning the contest.
Every Participant of the Minnesota Fish Art Contest will receive a 1-year free subscription to the digital edition of the Outdoor News ($25 value) and free entry to the Outdoor News Junior Pro Team program.

Length should be no more than one side of one page, typed or handwritten, with the contestant’s name, grade, and state on the front or back.
Creative writing should show the contestants knowledge, connection to and/or understanding of their chosen fish species.
Also, you can decorate the submissions, have illustrations or be creative in appearance but the words should be the main focus of the piece.
Creative writing is not required for contestants in grades K-3 and international participants.
Artwork Return Specifications:
Entries submitted by a US formal public or private school classroom teacher and all US 1st place winners will receive free return shipping of their artwork and a certificate of participation for each student.
US participants who would like their artwork returned must include a $10 payment payable to Wildlife Forever.
International Participants do not require Creative Writing.
Furthermore, if you choose to send your entry by mail, please know that organiser will not be able to return it.
