The Colby College Department of Music is inviting applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in ethnomusicology for the 2022-23 academic year.
Colby College is the 12th oldest liberal arts college in the United States. It provides an intimate, undergraduate-focused learning environment presenting students and faculty with unparalleled opportunities. It is a global institution with students representing nearly every U.S. state and approximately 70 countries.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a small, active, and highly collaborative department and will have responsibilities that will include the following:

  1. An introduction to world music course
  2. A specialized-topic elective in world music
  3. An introduction to ethnomusicology course
  4. An elective from the candidate’s area(s) of specialization.

Furthermore, all courses would need to be suitable for both majors and non-majors.

Qualifications

Completed PhD or ABD preferred.

Optional Qualification

  • candidate who through their research and teaching
  • can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the campus community
  • have a record of previous college teaching
  • also owns the ability to offer an elective that deals with pop, rock or jazz history.
