Research and Innovation for Economic Development!

Research reports indicate that three important factors contribute to economic development. Firstly, accumulation of the required capital for investments in physical infrastructure and human resources that are considered to be vital for any nation to progress and offer higher standards of living to her subjects. Secondly, growth in technically-trained manpower with the required competencies and skillsets, and c) More importantly, rapid progress in technology is also considered as one of the most important phenomenon for a country to witness rapid economic development and growth prospects, in the long run. Adding on to this phenomenon is the fact that ‘innovation’ plays a critical role in facilitating economic growth. All these drivers of growth can, of course, put a nation on the path of progress and prosperity only if research is accorded top priority by the government and other non-governmental agencies with the necessary funding support and a conducive atmosphere for the academic community and researchers to undertake solid research works on topics of national interest.

Given the above sound background and rationale, the upcoming conference in the Lion’s City of Singapore aims at achieving the following objectives;

a) Examine the major driving forces contributing to the economic development of a nation;

b) Identify and analyze the major economic issues and hurdles being faced by some economies so that corrective measures could be initiated in order to accelerate the economic growth and development;

c) Provide an ideal platform for researchers, economists, bankers and industry practitioners to share their research and practical experiences in all the major issues highlighted as above; and

d) Offer suitable solutions to ensure an orderly growth of the global economy and bring prosperity and sustainable economic development to the World, in the long-run.
