Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the position is to provide support and education to enhance students’ learning experience at Washington State University. Specifically, serving “deciding students,” that is, those exploring majors; collaborate in program development for academic advising; carry an academic advising load; provide information and clarification regarding University academic policies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
  • Accreditations: WSU ACADA Level 1 certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment.
  • Experience conducting presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred

  • A Master’s degree in a related field.
  • More than 2 years full-time experience working with students in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, advisors, and administrators.
  • Knowledge of and experience with academic advising and related issues.
  • Knowledge of university computing systems and student information systems.
