Assistant Professor of Social Work position available in The College of St. Scholastica. The College of St. Scholastica is seeking a faculty member to join its Social Work Program. Position is tenure track, depending upon qualifications. This 11 month position will begin fall semester 2019. The Social Work Faculty reports to the Social Work Program Site Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Build partnerships with community organizations for field practicum recruitment, curriculum resource, and advisory council development.
  • Provide direct instruction in core social work courses; on-ground, electronic and hybrid formats.
  • Work with Social Work Field Coordinator to advise, develop, and monitor community/college practicum partnerships.
  • Coordinate, document, and implement distance site CSWE self-study and substantive change practicum partnerships.
  • Assist Site Coordinator in adjunct faculty recruitment and hiring process
  • Assist in orientation activities of new social work personnel.
  • Provide direction, support and supervision of adjunct faculty; assist in areas such as syllabi development, teaching methods, and resources, campus operations, student learning needs and concerns, teaching methods and course management.
  • Participate in Social Work Department meetings.
  • Collaborate with campus administration and staff on an ongoing basis to ensure effective student learning environment.
  • Devise and monitor appropriate methods of course delivery through such tasks as course scheduling and advising students.
  • Contribute to an educational environment that embraces community through mutual respect of those with different cultures or backgrounds; assist with Program site development, implementation, and evaluation; and assist with Program marketing and promotion.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include an MSW degree, three years of social work practice, and eligibility for licensure by the Minnesota Board of Social Work. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of cultural competence and success working with diverse populations.

Academic teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
