About position

Heriot-Watt University is currently accepting applications for the available position of Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering. The incumbent will join the School of Engineering and Physical Science. In general, the position holder will deliver and assess courses in Chemical Engineering on-campus and will collaborate with colleagues at our overseas campuses. In addition to that, the assistant professor might also need to contribute to academic administration and course development.

Furthermore, s/he will work with other senior staffs to undertake an assessment of coursework and examinations. Also, the appointee will guide, help and advise students in relation to coursework and assignments. Other than that, s/he must perform some administrative duties as per the direction of Department and Administration.

Requirements

  • MSc or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualifications in a closely related degree.
  • In addition to that, the experience of undergraduate teaching in Chemical Engineering or a cognate discipline.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent team working and communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare clearly written and presented learning and teaching materials. Similarly, the ability to engage with students in the delivery of lectures and tutorials
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in Edinburgh and overseas.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
