Assistant Professor of Computer Science position available at Manhattan College.

The Department of Computer Science at Manhattan College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position as beginning fall 2019. The department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in Computer Science and M.S. degree in Computer Science. The current computer science faculty have background and expertise in cloud computing, operating systems, web and social networking, neural networks, image processing, machine learning, data mining, medical informatics, cryptography and network security.

The candidate should be able to teach a broad range of core computer science undergraduate and graduate courses. The department would be interested in candidates having an expertise in cybersecurity and bioinformatics, but all candidates having a strong research agenda in any area of Computer Science will be considered. It is expected that the candidate will develop new undergraduate and graduate elective courses in his/her area of expertise and will be able to supervise master theses/projects. The candidate must present an evidence of excellence in teaching and an active research program. The candidate is expected to participate in program assessment, student advising, academic committees and community service.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science. An ABD candidate may be considered if Ph.D. is earned prior to starting date of fall 2019
  • An evidence of excellence in teaching
  • An evidence of excellence in research (publications)

Three letters of reference (two of these should address teaching ability) will be required from all finalists.  Indicate whether you have an authorization to work in the United States at this time or will have it when the position begins or will require a visa sponsorship from Manhattan College.
