The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor in »Resource Economics« initially limited to five years; to begin in winter semester 2018/19. The position is a W3 position.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Management and will be affiliated with the Center for Energy Markets. The TUM School of Management offers a dynamic scientific environment for scholars to educate responsible talents and pursue relevant research at the intersection of management, engineering, and the natural and life sciences. In the fifteen years since its establishment, ongoing commitment to world-class research and teaching at the interface between management and technology resulted in a triple-crown accreditation (AMBA, AACSB, EQUIS).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of resource economics with a focus on energy resource evaluation, production modelling, and mathematical modelling of underlying network and supply infrastructures. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with advanced scientific experience, proven by achievements in research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude and international teaching experience, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Proven ability and experience in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of resource economics and economic geology are mandatory. Special expertise in the economics of conventional and unconventional resource extraction and infrastructure usage is a plus. We expect publications in relevant international journals, with expertise and focus in industrial production, especially in exploration techniques, production projections, and supply infrastructure.
