About the University
The most ambitious and comprehensive campaign in the University’s history, is raising $125 million to support students and programs across the University, and faculty and researchers. The campaign supports priorities in every division, school, department, and centers. Additionally, along with its fundraising goal, the campaign has an equally ambitious goal of engaging 80,000+ alumni. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of University Advancement and Campaign Director, the Senior Director of Development will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies for securing financial support from a portfolio of approximately 100-125 major gift prospects, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts. Moreover, the incumbent will work independently and also collaboratively with the Central Major Gifts team, and other University of La Verne units, in creating and implementing strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and financial support.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will have the following duties as a Senior Director of Development
- The Senior Director of Development will play a key role in ensuring La Verne reaches its fundraising goals, manage a comprehensive strategic fundraising plan and manage a portfolio of up to 100 prospects.
- Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the integrated leadership of philanthropic fundraising for La Verne. The incumbent should collaborate closely across the organization to align fundraising.
- Also, he/she will create and implement an annual fundraising development plan to meet budgeted goals, working adaptively as the organization assigning and managing appropriate ask teams, events, and activities.
- Moreover, the candidate will develop effective and persuasive fundraising materials that articulate the University’s mission and programs with a strong case for support.He/she will conduct donor prospect research, prepare briefing reports, acting as a consultant for President, VPUA, and Executive Team as needed.
- Furthermore, the candidate will represent the University of LaVerne Advancement at professional and university meetings, seminars, and conferences for professional development. He/she will also perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
Minimum
10 years experience in the following:
- Individual gift fundraising in a higher education environment
- Proven track record of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and closes of 7 and 8 figure gifts
- Experience managing high-level committees and boards in a non-profit and/or higher ed setting.
