Position: Clinical Assistant Professor of Counseling

Position summary

The Academic Counselling Unit of Oregon State University seeks Assistant Clinical  Professor to appoint or a full-time (1.0 FTE), twelve-month position. The incumbent will have to teach in the graduate program in Counselor Education. The Assistant Clinical Professor will be responsible for teaching clinical mental health core courses in the CACREP-accredited Master’s degree program, directing and managing the OSU-Cascades Counseling Clinic, and supervising practica and internships in clinical mental health settings. Candidates who can also teach and supervise students in school counseling preferred. The Counselor Education program operates on a twelve-month basis with summer teaching.

Key duties 

  • Direct and manage the OSU-Cascades Counseling Clinic. Teach and provide curriculum leadership.
  • Plan and participate in program information sessions, admissions processes, and workshops and also maintain an advising load.
  • Collaborate with the OSU-Cascades program faculty and faculty on the Corvallis campus around curriculum and accreditation work.
  • Teach courses related to clinical practice and supervise practica and internships in clinical mental health settings. Similarly, outreach and establish relationships with clinical mental health organizations.
  • Stay professionally current in related research, the content of courses, and certification and licensure regulations.
  • Furthermore, participate in service to the program, campus, College, and to the profession.

Requirements 

Candidates must have the following requirements in order to be eligible for Counselor Vacancy at Oregon State University

  • Per CACREP, candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have related doctoral degrees and have been employed as full-time faculty members in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. The doctoral degree must be conferred by the position start date.
  • Licensed or certified as a professional counselor and/or professional school counselor, or equivalent.
  • In addition to that, teaching experience at the college level.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision as well as experience working with multicultural concerns.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and social justice.
