About position

The University of Dundee is seeking Data Scientist/Software Architect and Imaging Data Expert to work at the Health Informatics Center. Basically, the incumbent will be leading the technical development of a platform which will transform access to routinely collected clinical images at scale for research purposes.

Here are some of the key responsibilities of the Data Scientist/Software Architect and Imaging Data Expert

  • Architecture, design, and development of a large-scale software platform which manages over 2 Petabytes of data.
  • In addition, contributing specialist imaging data domain knowledge to the software development team.
  • Similarly, developing and training AI algorithms, working with image data and natural language processing of text-based data.
  • Publishing our findings in relevant journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Also, promoting our research on the safe, secure and anonymized use of patient data to the general public.

Requirements

  • Doctoral level qualification in the relevant major. In addition to that, extensive experience in software development and architecture.
  • Proven track of academic publishing record and interest in a further publication.
  • Similarly, a track record of effectively leading and managing change in a complex environment, and creating a culture of a positive, high-performance team.
  • A desire to apply specialist expertise in support of fellow researchers in other fields.
  • Knowledge of clinical imaging data formats.
  • Skilled at engaging and influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders to work together to tackle problems and identify and deliver effective solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Furthermore, the experience of leading a team.
